The Jewish War Veterans of the USA is the oldest veterans organization in the Nation.
It was founded in 1896 in response to author Mark Twain’s claims that Jews did not serve in the military.
Since then, the organization has expanded considerably and so has it’s mission.
Today the Jewish War Veterans are leading advocates for veteran’s rights of all faiths, while focusing upon the unique needs of Jewish military personnel and veterans.
The National headquarters are located in Washington, DC. Various State echelons are called “Departments.” Those Departments manage the unique affairs of their individual states and the local Posts within that Department.
The Department of California was established in 1938. It has provided continuous service to the veterans of California since then.
